Entries FAQ

Is there a Minimum Age Limit?

There is no minimum age limit, as this is a non-competitive event. However, in order to ensure the safety of all riders, all riders under the age of 16 are required to be accompanied by an adult throughout the event and all U18s must submit a signed parental consent form. We will be enforcing these rules at all our events, otherwise participants will void the event insurance. We ask all participants to examine the route beforehand and carefully consider whether they could complete the route within the time limit. You can download a parental consent form here. Please send it to events@titaniumcyclingevents.co.uk at least 24 hours prior to the event.

What is the Refund Policy?

As a modern events company we understand that sometimes injuries occur during the training for sporting events which means you may be unable to take part. We will give you a refund depending on the amount of notice you give us: 6 months + notice = 100% refund, 3 – 6 months’ notice = 50% refund, 2 - 3 months’ notice = 25% refund. If you think you are eligible for a refund please send a request to help@titaniumcyclingevents.co.uk. You can always transfer your entry to a friend up to 4 days before the event for a small admin fee of £2.99 (or £5 on the day). You can also transfer your entry for free to another event up to 10 days before the start of the event you initially entered.

Can I Transfer My Entry?

As a modern events company we understand that sometimes you may wish to transfer your entry. It is essential that we have the correct details of all the participants before we start printing the event information. Therefore, you can transfer your entry to a friend online using the online system; this will incur a small admin fee of £2.99 and can be carried out up to 4 days prior to the event. To use the online system please visit this link.

After this date you can transfer your entry on the day by coming to the service desk in the event HQ, which will incur an admin fee of £5. It is vital that we have the correct details for the person riding for insurance purposes.

Do I Need British Cycling Membership to Enter the Sportive?

No, you do not need to have British Cycling Membership or a racing licence to enter this event. We are currently utilising their on-line entry system as its one of the easiest to use! If you don’t have membership after clicking on the enter button on the British Cycling website then just select the tab ‘I’m new to British Cycling and would like to enter this event.’ British Cycling membership does have some fantastic benefits, so it’s well worth looking into if you regularly cycle.

I have Entered the Wrong Distance or I Wish to Change Distance?

We fully understand that you may wish to change to a different route. There is no specific time at which you need to tell us this information. You can use our automated system to tell us up to 4 days before the event (free of charge), to use the online system please visit this link.

You can also tell us at signing on, or even after you have finished the ride. You can also use the automated system on the results website if you forget on the day.

When will the Final Arrangements for the event be Published?

Final arrangements for the event will be published online and also sent to all competitors by email, at least two weeks before the event.

Will I Receive Anything in the Post?

Prior to the event we will send all the required information out by email; we do not currently send any information out in the post. On the day of the event, please visit the HQ. You will need to sign-on (for insurance purposes) and we will provide you with a rider pack which will be pre-prepared for you which will contain a timing chip, number, High5 gels, OS Route Map and an Information Letter.

Can I Use a Mountain Bike?

You can use any bike at this sportive. All we ask is that you take into consideration that you need to be back at the HQ by 5.30 pm – so choose a route accordingly! We do not want to put anyone off, so if you think you are a rider who will ride at a slower pace we suggest that you sign on at 07:30 and set off as soon as possible. This will allow you 10 hours to get round any of the routes. If you want to switch to another route on the day, this is not a problem.

What is a Sportive?

Cyclo Sportives (spelt in several variants e.g. cyclo sportifs) are long distance, organised, mass participation cycling ‘events’ – not races – typically held annually. Sportives challenge participants to complete a set course, usually between 100 and 200km, within a time constraint. Organisers typically offer two distance choices and will provide support with supervising marshals and food and/or water stations which will be heartily welcomed by entrants. Sportives are the cycling cousin of running’s marathon. As with the 26 mile event, rather than racing other participants, sportives see cyclists challenge themselves in a personal battle against the distance and then ultimately, the clock. The already lengthy course will traditionally include climbs and difficult riding conditions, adding to the kudos of the event (e.g. the cobblestones of the Paris-Roubaix).
